Aston Carter is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for a contract role based in Irving, TX. You will oversee inventory accounting, ensure accuracy of financial results, and provide meaningful analysis to support business decisions.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, 5+ years of accounting experience, CPA preferred, and familiarity with the Retail Method of Accounting (RMA).

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of inventory and GL accounting.

Responsibilities

• Analyze large data sets to identify trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities.
• Support inventory accounting using the Retail Method of Accounting (RMA) including valuation.
• Investigate discrepancies, perform root-cause analysis, and implement solutions.
• Ensure inventory balances reflect in GL and inventory systems.
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Operations, Technology and other accounting teams.
• Lead process improvements, automation, and system enhancements.
• Maintain internal controls and audit readiness.
• Identify issues proactively and drive solutions with minimal direction.

Job description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for inventory accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of inventory financial results, and providing meaningful analysis to support business decisions. This role requires a highly analytical, solution-oriented leader who can independently identify issues, perform root-cause analysis, and develop scalable solutions in a complex, high-volume retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze large data sets to identify trends, anomalies, financial risks, and opportunities.
• Support inventory accounting processes utilizing the Retail Method of Accounting, including analysis of cost complements, markups, markdowns, shrink, and inventory valuation.
• Investigate accounting and system discrepancies, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.
• Ensure inventory balances and transactions are accurately reflected in the general ledger and supporting inventory systems.
• Partner with Merchandising, Operations, Technology, and other accounting teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Lead process improvements, automation, system enhancements, and transformation initiatives.
• Maintain strong internal controls, accounting documentation, and audit readiness.
• Proactively identify issues and drive solutions with minimal direction.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• CPA preferred
• Experience with the Retail Method of Accounting (RMA) preferred
• Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
