Job summary

Native Village of Kotzebue seeks a Teacher Aide to support an Inupiaq-speaking classroom, working with small and large groups under the Nikaitchuat Director. You will help plan weekly thematic units rooted in cultural activities and assist teachers in delivering instruction.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Ability to speak and/or understand Inupiaq (lñupiaq).
• Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing learning programs and collaborate with teachers on instruction.
• Clarify instructions, enable use of equipment and materials, motivate students, reinforce behaviors, and promote independence.
• Assist with group activities including drills, reading aloud, and storytelling; support pull-out settings.
• Advise and counsel students; mediate conflicts between students.
