Job summary

North Slope Borough School District seeks a dedicated teacher to implement research-based instructional strategies while fostering an Iñupiaq language inclusive classroom in a rural Alaskan community.

You will adapt instruction to individual learning styles, maturational levels, and achievement, promoting language development and cultural understanding through collaborative partnerships with families and community members.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of constructivist teaching approaches and hands-on learning
• Understanding and speaking Iñupiaq is preferred but not required
• Experience or exposure to family involvement in education is valued
• Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning styles and paces
• Commitment to ongoing study of Iñupiaq language and culture

Responsibilities

• Plan for instructional needs of all students with high expectations
• Implement district curriculum with focus on language development
• Use diverse assessments to inform instruction
• Collaborate with colleagues and community/parents
• Model and teach Iñupiaq values with cultural sensitivity
• Educate the whole child across intellectual, social and physical domains
• Contribute to ongoing professional growth and supervise educational paraprofessionals
