This Position is Eligible for Relocation and $10,000 Commitment Bonus

Work Week: 7am-7pm, 3 days a week with various days off. Responsible for Call every 9th weekend.

General Description of the Job Class

Perform a variety of complex specialized tasks eminent in operating radiographic equipment to perform vascular and neuroradiology angiographic and interventional procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

  1. Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of radiographic equipment to make special study radiographs of designated body portions in accordance with radiation safety procedures.
  2. Position patients; immobilize as necessary.
  3. Assist radiologist during angiographic and interventional procedures.
  4. Operate fluoroscopic equipment. Position patients for rapid sequence filming during contrast media administration.
  5. Set up sterile trays and other equipment practicing sterile technique.
  6. Assist radiologist during procedure to include handling of instruments, operating and monitoring equipment, calling out equipment readings; alerting physician to changes in patient condition.
  7. Scrub to assist with passage of catheters/guidewires.
  8. Load power injectors with contrast media; prepare for injection.
  9. Maintain studies within the Image archival system.
  10. Schedule patient procedures from referring physician's offices.
  11. Charge patients for procedures and supplies in EHR.
  12. Assist in orientation of new technologists; provide education and training to student technologists.
  13. Maintain patient records and statistical data.
  14. Coordinate scheduling and patient flow within the neuro/vascular radiographic suites; coordinate procedure performance across different hospital divisions (anesthesia, pediatrics, radiology).
  15. Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein (patient transport, etc.)
  16. Maintain supply inventory; order supplies.
  17. Assist with training of new physicians (attendings, interns, residents, and fellows).
  18. Assist radiologists with development of new protocols and imaging techniques that are unique to facility.
  19. Participate in research initiatives and development of research protocols.
  20. Demonstrate proficiency in the performance of neuro and vascular angiographic and interventional procedures.
  21. Orient new technologists to these procedures.
  22. Monitor charging of procedures and supplies for division to ensure correctness.
  23. Monitor assigned inventory expiration dates.
  24. Maintain a par inventory of catheters, balloons, stents, guidewires, and miscellaneous kits under discretion of manager.
  25. Monitor inventory levels and par-levels.
  26. Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.

Experience

Level I must obtain ARRT certification within 18 months of employment.

Level II Minimum of two years' experience as an Interventional technologist.

Level III A minimum of four years' experience within specialty modality in which they are seeking promotion.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

ARRT certification in radiography.

ARRT certification in vascular interventional technology must be obtained within 18 months of hire.

BLS certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to work with the most complex technology.

Ability to assume a leadership role.
