Job summary

UPMC Harrisburg NeuroInterventional is recruiting an Interventional Technologist to perform scrub and circulating duties across diverse Neuro cases, including MMA gluing, Pipeline, stroke interventions, and diagnostic imaging with 3D/4D interop and post-processing.

Schedule features a weekday and weekend call rotation with 30-minute response, 8- or 10-hour shifts, and a sign-on bonus for eligible new hires.

Responsibilities

• Administers contrast per protocols under proceduralist guidance.
• Demonstrates proper positioning and radiographic techniques for interventional procedures.
• Identifies patients by two identifiers and follows universal protocol.
• Maintains aseptic technique and time-out procedures for patient safety.
• Communicates clearly with patients to explain procedures and reduce anxiety.
• Codes and tracks exams in RIS and ensures archiving and interpretation in ISITE.
• Interacts with patients and staff to expedite patient care and supports other departments as needed.

Job description

UPMC Harrisburg NeuroInterventional is currently looking to recruit an Interventional Technologist. This NeuroInterventional Tech job consists of performing the scrub and circulating roles covering a wide variety of Neuro cases including not limited to MMA gluing, Pipeline, Stroke, Carotid intervention, Diagnostic imaging, using 3 and 4D imaging interop along with post processing, and Aneurysm coiling.

Call schedule is currently 1 weekday and every 4th weekend.

Schedule is 8s or 10s 0700-1530, 0730-1600, 0700-1730 with overnight and weekend call with a 30-minute response time.

Purpose:

Performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities:

• Administers contrast in accordance with assigned protocols under the direction of the proceduralist.
• Demonstrates proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for all interventional procedures. Exhibits a clear understanding of correct patient preparation, equipment operations and patient monitoring systems.
• Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures. Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data. Documents patient history in electronic record as required.
• Fosters an environment that supports aseptic technique during procedures and patient safety with the incorporation of a time-out process.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patients fears and solicit their cooperation.
• Ensures all exams within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
• Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect. Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
• Support other departments performing general radiographic procedures, if needed.
