Job summary

UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh is hiring a Full-Time Interventional Technologist to support our Cardiac Catheterization Lab at the McCandless location. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.

Shift details include four 10-hour shifts from 7am to 5:30pm with on-call 1–2 nights a week and rotating weekends. A $20,000 sign-on bonus is available for full-time Interventional Techs.

Responsibilities

• Administers contrast in accordance with assigned protocols under the direction of the proceduralist.
• Demonstrate proper positioning and radiographic techniques for interventional procedures.
• Ensure correct patient preparation, equipment operations and patient monitoring systems.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and apply universal protocol during procedures.
• Review patient history and physician orders, applying departmental protocols for data acquisition.
• Document patient history in electronic records.
• Support aseptic technique and patient safety with time-out processes.
• Communicate procedures clearly to patients and address their fears.
• Code and track exams in RIS and ensure ISITE archiving and billing.
• Interact well with patients and staff, showing care, listening, dignity and respect.
• Work as a team within the department and with other departments to expedite care.
• Support other departments with general radiographic procedures as needed.

We are currently offering a $20,000 sign-on bonus for full-time Interventional Techs. External and eligible candidates

Responsibilities:

• Administers contrast in accordance with assigned protocols under the direction of the proceduralist.
• Demonstrate proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for all interventional procedures.
• Exhibits a clear understanding of correct patient preparation, equipment operations and patient monitoring systems.
• Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures.
• Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data.
• Documents patient history in electronic record as required.
• Fosters an environment that supports aseptic technique during procedures and patient safety with the incorporation of a time-out process.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patients fears and solicit their cooperation.
• Ensures all exams within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system
• All exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
• Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect.
• Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
• Support other departments performing general radiographic procedures, if needed.
