Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Special Procedures Technologist at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. You will support interventional workflows, operate angiographic systems, and ensure imaging quality and radiation safety in a fast-paced radiology environment.

The role involves preparing rooms, reviewing orders, verifying patient readiness, and mentoring new staff while maintaining sterile technique and high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved AMA School of Radiologic Technology.
• Current New Jersey Radiologic Technologist License required.
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• ARRT certification preferred.
• Completed required orientation and competency programs.
• Experience in Interventional Radiology, Angiography, or Special Procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare procedure rooms, imaging systems, and workstations for interventional procedures.
• Review orders, prior imaging, and patient records for accuracy and continuity of care.
• Verify laboratory results and confirm patient readiness prior to procedures.
• Set up sterile trays and preparing interventional supplies including catheters and contrast injectors.
• Operate angiographic equipment and imaging systems to obtain high‑quality images.
• Position patients for optimal imaging outcomes and procedural success.
• Assist radiologists, physicians, and nursing staff throughout interventional procedures.
• Load and program angiographic systems and imaging sequences as required.
• Monitor patients during procedures and ensure safety throughout the exam.
• Maintain sterile technique and radiation safety standards.
• Document procedures and use RIS for workflow and reporting.
• Serve as a preceptor and resource for new technologists and students.
• Participate in ongoing training and system updates.
