Job summary

The IR Centers at Michigan Institute of Urology is a multidisciplinary private practice endovascular lab delivering minimally invasive radiology procedures in an outpatient setting across the U.S.

We are seeking a surgical technologist with 2 years of scrub experience, BLS and ARRT certification to prepare cases, assist physicians, maintain sterile technique, and support patient care, billing and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Valid BLS Certification required.
• Surgical technologist / Scrub Tech experience: 2 years required.
• ARRT Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients and procedure rooms for radiology procedures.
• Reviews patient orders to determine necessary materials and sets up/cleans procedure rooms.
• Assists with patient prep, transfers, and positioning.
• Inputs patient data into the C-Arm and assists physicians during interventional procedures, maintaining sterile technique.
• Complies with HIPAA, draws up and labels IV medications, and processes/archives x-ray images.
• Manages equipment maintenance, supply inventory, and hazardous waste disposal.
• May serve as Radiation Safety Officer and assist with accreditation surveys.
• Ensures effective communication with physicians.
• Assists with patient billing, verifying procedure charges, CPT, and ICD9 codes.

• Proven working experience as a surgical technologist
• Proficient in maintaining a sterile field
• Experienced in scrubbing in for surgical procedures
• Knowledge of HIPAA and other healthcare regulations
• Working knowledge of interventional equipment

Working conditions

Employees may be exposed to infectious diseases. Must lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and assist in patient transfers up to 400 pounds. Standing in a protective apron for 60-90 minutes is required. Reasonable accommodations for disabilities are available.
