Job summary

The University of Chicago is seeking an experienced Interventional Pulmonary Nurse to coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic regimes for patients under the Interventional Pulmonary Clinical Program. You will interact with patients to explain diagnoses and treatments, and provide complex nursing care during discharge planning.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, schedule airway and pleural interventions, and ensure patient safety and quality care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Qualifications

  • Education: college or university degree in related field.
  • Work Experience: 2–5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Background with interventional pulmonary procedures.
  • Certifications: Licensed registered nurse in Illinois; current BLS; CPR, ACLS, or PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Handles confidential information in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Provides compassionate patient care with age-specific considerations.
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to support patient and family needs.
  • Accurately completes patient assessment, documentation, and interpretations for encounters.
  • Schedules and coordinates airway and pleural interventions for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Assists in outpatient interventional pulmonary clinic with scheduling, referrals, and transfers.
  • Maintains equipment, inventory, and work areas in proper condition.
