Job summary

Central Maine Medical Center in Auburn, ME is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Interventional Physiatrist (PM&R) to join our outpatient practice. The role focuses on non-surgical management of musculoskeletal and spine disorders using image-guided techniques to improve function and reduce pain.

The position blends clinic evaluation with outpatient procedures, with access to fluoroscopy suite and ultrasound, and a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with completion of an accredited PM&R residency.
• Fellowship training in Interventional Spine, Pain Medicine, or Musculoskeletal Medicine preferred (or equivalent experience).
• Board certified or board eligible in PM&R.
• Eligible for/hold Maine medical license.
• Proficiency in fluoroscopic guided procedures.
• Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal and spine-related conditions.
• Perform interventional procedures including, but not limited to: Epidural steroid injections, Facet joint injections and medial branch blocks, Radiofrequency ablation (RFA), Sacroiliac joint injections, Peripheral joint and soft tissue injections, Ultrasound-guided procedures (preferred but not required).
• Utilize fluoroscopy and/or ultrasound guidance for procedures.
• Develop individualized, non-operative treatment plans focused on function and rehabilitation.
• Coordinate care with physical therapists, primary care providers, surgeons, and other specialists.
• Interpret imaging studies (MRI, CT, X-ray) relevant to patient care; Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adherence to best practices.
