Job summary

Baystate Health in Springfield, MA seeks a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CIS) / Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (CES) to join a patient care team performing cardiac, neuro and peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures.

The CIS/CES will scrub, assist physicians, monitor hemodynamics, document events, and manage equipment specific to their specialty. The role supports 24/7 call coverage and ongoing training within a high-acuity environment.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills.
• Anatomy and physiology.

Responsibilities

• Participates in team huddle/time-out and all aspects of the procedure.
• Acts as a first assist during cardiovascular and Neurovascular procedures.
• Maintains, ACLS and BLS certification.
• Operates and maintains diagnostic and therapeutic equipment under physician direction.
• Prepares the patient for the procedure in prep/recovery area and procedure room.
• Explains the process and reinforces patient teachings throughout the procedure.
• Sets up non-invasive monitoring (EKG, BP, Pulse Oximetry).
• Preps and drapes patients using aseptic/sterile techniques.
• Facilitates insertion/manipulation of guide wires and catheters with fluoroscopic guidance.
• Obtains invasive hemodynamic data, cardiac output, and blood samples as required.
• Injects contrast to visualize cardiovascular structures (angiography).
• Manages diagnostic/therapeutic modalities (FFR, IMPELLA, IABP, Angiojet, Rotoblator, CSI).
• Performs point of care testing.
• Assists and performs emergency resuscitation.
• Monitors patient and documents all procedural data.
• Manages access site and hemostasis, sheath removal.
• Attends staff meetings and training events to enhance skills.
• Maintains competency via on-call rotations.
• Dysrhythmia recognition.
• Pursues RCIS/RCES within 3 years of hire, if eligible for exam.
