Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is seeking a Physician Assistant for Interventional Cardiology to provide patient care within the department and subspecialties, following established standards and guiding nursing and support staff.

The role involves diagnostic assessments, ordering and monitoring treatments, documenting patient encounters, and collaborating with specialists to manage complex cases. A NY license, BLS, and DEA are required, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of New York.
• Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.
• DEA Certificate required.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Practices within the scope of delineated privileges.
• Provide direct care to individuals and families with NYU Langone Health-Brooklyn's philosophy in mind, ensuring patient safety, wellbeing, rights and confidentiality.
• Obtain detailed histories and perform physical examinations; write orders after consulting with a physician; monitor and report patient changes; consult specialists for complex cases.
• Documentation of all patient encounters including assessment, progress notes, treatment rendered, teaching, and follow-up.
• Maintain unit records, reports, and statistics for administrative purposes and reimbursement, including discharge summaries.
• Evaluation and management of critical care patients.
• Perform emergency life-saving procedures in the absence of a physician.
• Participate in rounds with attending staff and housestaff.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and families during admissions, care, and discharge.
• Provide preventive health services including counseling and teaching.
• Participate in Quality Improvement activities and committees.
• Attend all departmental meetings/conferences.
• May be on call during non-working hours to assist attendings.
• Direct, instruct and evaluate PA and medical students.
• Participate in activities fostering professional growth and certification maintenance.
