Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Intervention Specialist for Cornerstone Academy - Middle School in Westerville, Ohio. The role focuses on supporting students with IEP goals and fostering a rigorous, nurturing classroom environment that emphasizes academics and social-emotional development.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with teachers, conduct assessments, develop behavior plans, and lead IEP meetings. Strong communication and organizational skills are required, with a commitment to culturally

Qualifications

• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience in a full room inclusion model or Co-Teaching in a Resource Room model.
• Growth-focused coaching with frequent observations, debriefs and progress monitoring.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to pass FBI/BCI background checks.
• Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with classroom teachers, interpreting abilities and disabilities, assist in intervention strategies and modify general education curriculum as needed.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments.
• Write and implement behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP meetings and write IEP goals and objectives.
• Relentlessly work to meet goals related to student achievement, culture and state goals.
• Utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and instruction.
• Integrate culturally responsive teaching into daily lessons and interactions.
• Serve as advisor for a designated set of students.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and social-emotional growth.
• Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips.
• Perform other duties as assigned
