Job summary

The American School for the Deaf, located in West Hartford, CT, seeks a detail-oriented Interpreting Services Scheduler and Trainee. Under supervision, you will coordinate interpreting requests with a team of certified interpreters and support the path to RID certification.

You will handle scheduling across platforms, communicate changes promptly, prepare materials for interpreters, and assist with payroll, purchases, and data tracking. This role requires flexibility and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Must have passed RID written exam and be progressing toward RID certification.
• Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Willing to work flexible hours.
• Willing to travel to multiple locations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate interpreting requests with certified interpreters and scheduling managers.
• Answer phones, emails, and VideoPhone calls from requestors and interpreters.
• Relay scheduling changes to requestors, staff, and contractors in a timely manner.
• Gather materials for interpreters to prepare for assignments.
• Track interpreting data and statistics.
• Process payroll, timesheets, and purchase orders.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
