Job summary

West Hartford Public Schools seeks a dedicated ASL Interpreter to support our students who are deaf and hard of hearing. Responsibilities include ensuring access to language through use of American Sign Language and other visual supports.

Duties also include signing/voicing teacher/student communications, facilitating communication between teacher/student/peers, supporting academic content, providing instructional support, and management of amplification systems.

Qualifications

• Fluency in American Sign Language required.
• Must be on CT Interpreter Registry.
• CASLI CGKE certification required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure access to language for deaf and hard-of-hearing students using ASL and visual supports.
• Sign/voicing of teacher-student communications and facilitate interactions among teachers, students and peers.
• Support academic content and provide instructional support.
• Manage amplification systems and related assistive technologies in classroom settings.
