Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Interpreter Coordinator, the Interpreter Scheduler assists in scheduling patient referral appointments. Acts as a liaison between interpreters and referral clients, demonstrating interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a diverse group of people, including patients, healthcare providers, and interpreters. Resolves scheduling issues independently and facilitates solutions, consulting with a supervisor for more complex situations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Coordinate and schedule patient referral appointments.
2. Work under pressure in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines and handle emergencies.
3. Maintain and develop positive relationships with interpreters and referral clients.
4. Maintain client confidentiality.
5. Serve as a substitute interpreter as needed.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• Education: Equivalent work experience, some college, high school diploma, or GED.
• Licensure: Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Experience: At least two (2) years offering translation and interpreting services, including languages such as Spanish, Karen, Mai Mai, Arabic, Dinka, French, Somali, and English fluency.
• PC literacy, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
• Fluency in English, with the ability to translate and interpret clearly between parties.
• Hours of Work: 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday-Friday, with some on-call weekends.
• Travel: Some travel required (0-10%).
• Exposure: May include occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and noisy environments, with protective measures provided.
• Physical: Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with special challenges.
