Job summary

Kids for the Future in San Diego, CA is seeking an Interpreter to support behavioral health services for children, youth and families. This part-time role (20 hours/week) requires Spanish fluency and the ability to interpret across clinical settings, triage, assessments, therapy sessions, nursing and psychiatry, as well as telephone calls.

You will join a collaborative program team, provide translation of medical records, and may deliver telehealth as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish is required for this position; must be able to demonstrate fluency in writing, speaking, reading Spanish
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a translator or interpreter preferred
  • Excellent phone etiquette, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and maintain confidentiality required
  • Previous experience in a similar mental health program serving the CYF population is desirable
  • A valid California driver's license in good standing, personal vehicle, and proof of insurance is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position
  • Must be able to pass criminal/background clearance

Hours: 20 hours per week; Tuesday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Wednesday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and Thursday, 11:00 am to 7:30 pm


As an Interpreter, you will:


Support the program staff and clients by providing interpreting services for clients.



  • Interpret and translate clinical information for the program staff and clients.

  • Provide interpretation during triage, assessments, group therapy, individual therapy, nursing, psychiatry appointments, and during telephone calls.

  • Assist with translation of medical records and clinical documents.

  • Provide general clerical/reception supports to the program as needed.

  • Depending upon needs of the program and clients, may be expected to provide telehealth services.

  • Work collaboratively with all other members of the program team.

Our Children, Youth and Family (CYF) outpatient programs (Crossroads Family Center,Douglas Young Youth and Family Services, Mobile Adolescent Services Team (MAST), and Nueva Vista Family Services provide services throughout San Diego County. We provide a range of services including crisis intervention, individual, family, and group therapy, medication support, rehabilitation, case management and drug and alcohol services while incorporating the family systems and wrap-around approach.


We provide mental health services to children and youth with Medi-Cal as well as those who are uninsured and underinsured. Services are provided in English and several threshold languages, using medical care, education, and family resources as appropriate.

Summary


Our services include initial behavioral health assessments, psychiatric and medication evaluations, ongoingmedication support services, individual, family and group counseling, case management, and linking clientswith additional community-based supports. The interpreter supports the program and staff by providinginterpreting services for clients and their caregivers.
