Job description

Job Summary:

The Interpersonal Development Specialist is responsible for delivering activities to support interpersonal development (ID; client interviews, training presentations) among trainees of the Karyn Purvis Institute. Specific ID activities include conducting individual interviews, providing feedback to clients in real time (e.g., blind spots and self-awareness regarding attachment pattern, how attachment operates in relationships) to better prepare trainees for success in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) training and implementation. This position will office remotely.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Conducts the AAI which entails the following: (a) 1-2 hours of interview questions and responses following complex question/answer process flow and attachment theory alignment through conference call or virtual platform with North American and International individuals enrolled in the TBRI Training, (b) Real-time informal assessment of attachment style during the interview, (c) Immediate verbal feedback, including observations, coaching, action steps, etc., and (d) written feedback documenting assessment findings.
2. Prepares and leads training courses in attachment and connecting principles (both online and in-person); monitors and responds to requests and interactions with trainees.
3. Acts as a consultant to the Institute's valued partners in the US and across the world, ensuring successful dissemination of attachment-related components involved in implementing TBRI.
4. Partners with Program Coordinator to engage international interpreters to conduct interviews and document assessment notes in multiple languages (including, not limited to Spanish, Russian, Polish, Romanian and Ukrainian). Trains international interpreters to assist ID specialists in conducting interviews and document assessment notes.
5. Interfaces with online scheduling platform and maintains database of correspondence with clients including queries and follow-up (average 3 or more touch points per client for 300-500 annual clients).
6. Maintains database and confidential records of all AAI interviews (pdf, doc).
7. Assists Institute staff in all aspects of the Institute's mission including education, research, and outreach.
8. Represents the Institute at scientific or professional conferences, and communicating as a liaison with members of the Institute's partner network.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Master's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, or other related field.
• 5 plus years' experience in a professional capacity working with children, youth, parents, or families.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Master's Degree in Psychology or related field of study.
• 3 or more years of experience conducting Adult Attachment Interviews or other related clinical work

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Fingerprint and background check clearance required upon hire.
• Reliable coder of the Adult Attachment Interview or working toward reliability.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• TBRI Practitioner.
• Licensed professional in a related field (e.g., counseling, social work).
• Proficiency using Skype, Zoom or other virtual meeting software.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of counseling and interpersonal relationship techniques.
• Skill in communicating with other professionals in individual and group settings.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to clearly communicate verbally.
• Ability to work with diverse and multicultural populations from around the world including with simultaneous translation.
• Ability to draft grammatically correct correspondence and document accurate notes associated with the AAI.
• Ability to facilitate group training sessions for adult learners.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work in a digital work environment (e.g., MS Office, Zoom, web applications).
• Ability to travel on a regular basis.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• Travel required.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
