Job summary

Crowell & Moring LLP seeks an associate or counsel to join our International Trade practice in New York or Washington, DC. Candidates must have 4 to 7 years of experience advising clients on complex customs and international trade disputes, including duties, tariff classification, and penalties.

Responsibilities include developing legal strategy, drafting memoranda and briefs, handling protests and penalty proceedings, supervising junior attorneys, and appearing before CBP, the U.S.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of experience advising clients on complex customs and international trade disputes.
• Experience representing in matters involving import duties, tariff classification, customs valuation, country-of-origin determinations, antidumping and countervailing duty matters, and customs penalties.
• Strong research, writing, analytical and advocacy skills; experience with customs and international trade litigation.

Responsibilities

• Develop legal strategy and arguments in customs and trade matters.
• Handle administrative protests, penalties, and other challenges to customs determinations; draft and review memoranda, pleadings, briefs, protests, and submissions.
