Job summary

Crowell & Moring LLP seeks an associate or counsel to join our International Trade practice in New York or Washington, DC. Candidates must have 4 to 7 years of experience advising clients on complex customs and international trade disputes, including duties, tariff classification, and penalties.

Responsibilities include developing legal strategy, drafting memoranda and briefs, handling protests and penalty proceedings, supervising junior attorneys, and appearing before CBP, the U.S.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of experience advising clients on complex customs and international trade disputes.
• Experience representing in matters involving import duties, tariff classification, customs valuation, country-of-origin determinations, antidumping and countervailing duty matters, and customs penalties.
• Strong research, writing, analytical and advocacy skills; experience with customs and international trade litigation.

Crowell & Moring is seeking an associate or counsel to join our International Trade practice in New York or Washington, DC.

Candidates must have 4 to 7 years of experience advising clients on complex customs and international trade disputes and representing clients in matters involving import duties, tariff classification, customs valuation, country-of-origin determinations, antidumping and countervailing duty matters, and customs penalties. Responsibilities include developing legal strategy and arguments in customs and trade matters, handling administrative protests, penalty proceedings, and other challenges to customs determinations, drafting and reviewing legal memoranda, pleadings, briefs, protests, and other submissions before agencies and courts, and supervising and mentoring junior attorneys. Candidates should possess strong research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills, as well as experience with customs and international trade litigation. Experience appearing before U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and other federal trade-related agencies is preferred. The position offers the opportunity to play a leading role in a sophisticated customs and international trade litigation practice while advising clients on complex customs disputes and broader international trade matters.

Candidates must be a member of the state bar for the office to which they are applying or otherwise eligible for admission by waiver. All candidates should have excellent academic credentials as well as highly developed organizational, writing and analytical skills.

Our Firm is committed to fair and equitable compensation practice in accordance to applicable laws. The salary range for this position is $310,000 to $420,000. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus. Other benefits include healthcare, vision, dental, retirement, and all-purpose leave. The salary for this position may vary based on market data, an applicant’s skills and prior experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other factors.
