Job summary

Hylant is seeking a Captive Reinsurance Accountant to support evaluation and management of reinsurance contracts, claims, and relationships with reinsurers. The role ensures compliance with policies, efficient claim settlement, and effective communication with reinsurers.

Prepare technical, financial accounting of premium, claim, and reserves based on statements and bordereaux. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and at least 3 years of experience in reinsurance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in reinsurance accounting, insurance, or a related financial area.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
• Strong ability to build and maintain internal and external (carrier) relationships.
• Fluency in English.
• Willingness to travel by car or airplane for meetings or events.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze reinsurance contracts for adherence to policies and guidelines.
• Manage processing and settlement of reinsurance claims with accuracy and efficiency.
• Generate reinsurance reports and conduct analyses to support decision-making.
• Advise internal stakeholders on Statutory and Reinsurance Accounting matters.
• Drive continuous process improvement and standardization; identify inefficiencies.
• Attend training sessions to stay updated on systems, processes, and changes.
• Update SOPs and training guides in collaboration with Captive Account Executives.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as needed.

The role is key to ensuring compliance with company policies, efficient claim settlement, and effective communication and collaboration with reinsurers. • Review and analyze reinsurance contracts to ensure adherence to company policies and guidelines.
• Manage the processing and settlement of reinsurance claims, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Generate reinsurance reports and conduct analysis to support decision-making.
• Consult internal stakeholders on Statutory and Reinsurance Accounting expertise and guidance.
• Drive continuous process improvement and standardization; actively identify areas for process improvement and inefficiencies.
• Join relevant training sessions to maintain current relevant knowledge and of the system, processes, and changes.
• Keep SOP/training guides up to date for role and processes in collaboration with Captive Account Executives.
• Perform other duties and special projects as requested.
