Job summary

Hylant is seeking a Captive Reinsurance Accountant to support evaluation and management of reinsurance contracts, claims, and relationships with reinsurers. You will prepare technical, financial accounting of premiums, claims, and reserves based on statements of accounts or bordereaux, ensuring compliance with policies and effective settlements.

You will review contracts, manage settlements, generate reports, and advise stakeholders on statutory and reinsurance accounting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in reinsurance accounting, insurance or similar financial area.
• Proficiency in MS Office, primarily Excel, Outlook, Teams.
• Skilled at building and maintaining internal and external relationships.
• Fluent in English.
• Ability and willingness to travel by car or airplane for meetings, conferences, or other business-related functions.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze reinsurance contracts to ensure adherence to company policies and guidelines.
• Manage the processing and settlement of reinsurance claims, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Generate reinsurance reports and conduct analysis to support decision-making.
• Consult internal stakeholders on Statutory and Reinsurance Accounting expertise and guidance.
• Drive continuous process improvement and standardization; actively identify areas for process improvement and inefficiencies.
• Join relevant training sessions to maintain current relevant knowledge and of the system, processes, and changes.
• Keep SOP/training guides up to date for role and processes in collaboration with Captive Account Executives.
• Perform other duties and special projects as requested.
