YRM Reading Rally After School Coordinator
Location: Yankee Ridge Multilingual Elementary, Urbana, Illinois
The YRM After School Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising a grant-based after‑school program following district and grant policies. The coordinator works beyond school hours and focuses on instruction, assessment, student engagement, and partnership development.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and implement a grant‑based after‑school program in accordance with district and grant policies.
- Assist the administrative team in planning and designing the program and maintaining communication with stakeholders.
- Engage staff to develop instructional and assessment practices linking the school day curriculum with the extended‑day program.
- Outreach and actively engage students and families in the program.
- Facilitate the development and selection of project‑based interactive after‑school enrichment programming.
- Develop procedures and policies for operation of the after‑school program.
- Recruit, hire, and supervise staff; plan staff schedules, review timesheets, submit stipend requests, and arrange substitute coverage.
- Maintain student enrollment records, class schedules, and other documentation.
- Meet regularly with extended‑day staff; facilitate orientation training and staff development.
- Work with community partners to plan and implement program components; facilitate partner orientation.
- Collaborate with school district partners to integrate program components.
- Promote and market program information to students, parents, and the community.
- Maintain and reconcile budget documentation; report to the administrative team.
- Meet deadlines, follow protocol, and complete required grant documentation.
- Assist in data collection for evaluation; report findings with the evaluation team.
- Manage program logistics (assign rooms, manage materials, and resources).
- Initiate and meet all responsibilities in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Administrative endorsement or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ready to plan, design, and implement a grant program.
- Experience coordinating programs.
- Experience in education, recreation, and/or grant management.
- Experience working with community organizations.
- Experience in bilingual education.
- Current USD #116 employee.
- Skills and Abilities: Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
- Ability to manage daytime and extended‑day duties.
- Strong attention to detail and organization.
- Ability to make independent decisions regarding student conduct.
- Leadership in administering program instruction and assessment.
- Experience maintaining fiscal records and reporting requirements.
Terms of Employment
- Stipend position; contingent on continuation of grant funding.
- Program hours generally 3:00‑4:30 PM, Tuesday–Thursday, per building location.
- Coordinators must be available during session hours and additional preparation time as needed.
- Current USD #116 employee.
Start Date: July 27, 2026
Note: This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated per the Board’s policy on evaluation of support personnel.
