Job summary

USD 116 district seeks a 21st Century CCLC / UHS Coordinator at Urbana High School to oversee the after-school program, plan and prepare activities, hire staff, supervise operations, and ensure compliance with funding and district procedures. This stipend position requires energy, creativity, and willingness to work hours outside the school day.

The role coordinates with district partners, engages families, and aligns extended-day activities with the regular curriculum while maintaining records

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education or a related field required.
  • Administrative endorsement or equivalent desired.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement grant-based after school program in accordance with district/grant policies and regulations for the elementary school.
  • Assist the administrative team in planning and designing the program and establishing and maintaining communication with stakeholders.
  • Engage staff to develop instructional and assessment practices linking the school day curriculum with the extended day program.
  • Work with staff to outreach and actively engage students and families in the program.
  • Facilitate the development and selection of project-based interactive after school enrichment programming.
  • Develop procedures and policies for operation of the afterschool program.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise staff including planning staff schedules, reviewing timesheets, submitting requests for staff stipends, and arranging substitute coverage for absences.
  • Maintain student enrollment records, class schedules, and all other necessary documentation.
  • Meet regularly with extended day staff, facilitate orientation training, and staff development activities.
  • Work with community contractual partners to plan and implement components of the project. Facilitate partner orientation.
  • Work with school district partners to integrate components of the program.
  • Promote and market information about the after school program to students, parents and the community.
  • Maintain and reconcile budget related documentation and report information to the administrative team in a timely fashion.

21st Century CCLC / UHS Coordinator

Location: Urbana High School, Urbana, Illinois

Supervisor: Director of Grant-Based Programs and Building Principal(s)

Job Summary: The 21st CCLC/UHS coordinator is responsible for the overall workings of this exciting before and after school program. The coordinator is responsible for planning and preparation of the program, overseeing and hiring staff, supervising daily operations and the supervision of students within the parameters established by funding and school district procedures. The coordinator must be energetic, creative, and willing to work hours outside of the school day.

Essential Functions
  • Coordinate and implement grant-based after school program in accordance with district/grant policies and regulations for the elementary school.
  • Assist the administrative team in planning and designing the program and establishing and maintaining communication with stakeholders.
  • Engage staff to develop instructional and assessment practices linking the school day curriculum with the extended day program.
  • Work with staff to outreach and actively engage students and families in the program.
  • Facilitate the development and selection of project-based interactive after school enrichment programming.
  • Develop procedures and policies for operation of the afterschool program.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise staff including planning staff schedules, reviewing timesheets, submitting requests for staff stipends, and arranging substitute coverage for absences.

  • Work with school district partners (Building Principal, Mentor/Volunteer Coordinator, Classroom Teachers, Social Worker, Family Liaison) to integrate components of the program.
  • Promote and market information about the after school program to students, parents and the community.
  • Maintain and reconcile budget related documentation and report information to the administrative team in a timely fashion.
  • Meet deadlines, follow protocol, complete required reports and required grant documentation.
  • Assist in the collection of data for the evaluation team. Collaborate with the administrative and evaluation team to report findings.
  • Manage program logistics (assign rooms, manage materials and resources).
  • Initiate and meet all responsibilities in a timely manner.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Education or a related field required
  • Administrative endorsement or equivalent desired

Experience:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to plan, design and implement a grant program
  • Experience coordinating programs
  • Experience in the field of education, recreation, and/or grant management
  • Experience working with community organizations
  • Experience in Bilingual education
  • Must be a current USD #116 employee

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Bilingual Spanish / English preferred
  • Ability to manage both daytime and extended day duties
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to make decisions and exercise independent judgment regarding student conduct

  • Experience maintaining fiscal records, collection of data, reporting requirements
Terms of Employment
  • This is a stipend position and is contingent on the continuation of grant funding
  • 21st CCLC / UHS program hours are generally 7:30-8:00 AM and 3:00-5:30 PM for afternoon sessions, Monday - Thursday, as applicable per building location
  • Coordinators must be available for session hours at their building location and additional time as required to prepare and coordinate the program
  • Must be a current USD #116 employee

Start Date: July 27, 2026

Note: This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of support personnel
