The City of Springfield (MO) seeks candidates for an internal posting within the Springfield Fire Department. Qualified applicants will undergo a CPSE-based selection process including interview and officer designation components. Packets are due by 10/15/26 and must pass all phases to be placed on the eligibility list.
Education includes an Associate’s Degree with a preference for a Bachelor’s Degree. Licensing must include a valid driver’s license, IFSAC certifications, IC 400 within a year,
Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the Selection Process outlined below.
First two weeks of November, Individual interview times to be assigned.
Candidates will complete the Learning and Experience components modeled after the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) professional designation process. Candidate submissions will be reviewed and assessed in relation to the established dimensions of the Battalion Chief position. Candidate packets are expected to be sent via email on 10/15/26.
Candidates must successfully pass each phase of the selection process to receive a final score and be placed on the eligibility list.
The City reserves the right to adjust scheduled dates and locations as needed
Equivalent education may be considered in lieu of an Associate's Degree
