Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets is seeking an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician to support internists in patient care, updates, and client education. This role emphasizes relationship building as patient care is longer in duration, offering collaboration with a dedicated clinical team in a fast-paced setting.

The position requires State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred, prior veterinary experience, and proficiency in drug calculations and unit conversions.

Qualifications

• State Registered Vet Tech license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; internal medicine or anesthesia experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRI, unit conversions).
• Flexible with work hours; additional hours when necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
• Calculate medical math (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.).
• Induce, monitor and recover patients from anesthesia.
• Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.
• Assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway).
• Discharge patients and educate clients.

Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician

The Internal Medicine team is constantly working with our internists to provide information to our clients regarding patient care, updates and treatments. This is one department that focuses on relationship building as patient care is longer in duration. If you want to combine your love of animals and clients, this is the department for you!

What you’ll do:

• Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
• Calculates all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc).
• Induce, monitor and recover patients from anesthesia
• Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.
• Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway).
• Patient discharge and client education

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous internal medicine or anesthesia experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
