Job summary

PetVet Care Centers in Vienna, VA is seeking a Full-time Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician to join Hope Advanced Veterinary Center. The role includes patient care, examinations, diagnostics, anesthesia support, and record-keeping within a AAHA-accredited specialty hospital.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Current Virginia Licensed Veterinary Technician credential in good standing, or eligibility to obtain licensure before starting.
• Strong veterinary nursing skills, including patient assessment, venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, medication administration, and care of hospitalized patients.
• Must communicate professionally, work collaboratively, and safely perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations, reviewing care plans and records, completing laboratory tests and studies, and diagnostic imaging.
• Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, drugs, and vaccines, and bandaging wounds.
• Support patient examinations and operations by assembling required supplies and instruments, securing and bringing patients to examination rooms, and restraining patients as directed by the veterinarian.
• Provide excellent pet care with knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and specialized equipment usage.
• Maintain medical records by documenting patients’ conditions, reactions, and changes; update the database accurately.
