PetVet Care Centers' Carolina Veterinary Specialists – Matthews is seeking an Internal Medicine Veterinary Assistant to join our busy Internal Medicine department in Matthews, North Carolina. The role offers a 4-day work week with occasional rotating weekend on-call.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of veterinary assistant/technician experience or are recent AVMA-accredited program graduates. You will work closely with specialists, perform advanced diagnostics, manage anesthesia, and

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as veterinary assistant/technician or AVMA-accredited technician program graduation.
• Strong technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, general lab work, anesthesia and pharmacology.
• Knowledge of normal patient (cat/dog) parameters and basic medical terminology.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong work ethic and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds; must be 18+ years old.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily appointment flow.
• Assist with radiography, CT, ECG, lab tests, ultrasonic and endoscopic procedures.
• Administer chemotherapeutic agents and other medications.
• Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery.
• Maintain hospitalized patient orders and monitor patient status.
• Provide client communication including history-taking and discharge instructions.
