Carolina Veterinary Specialists – Matthews in Matthews, North Carolina, seeks an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician to join our busy Internal Medicine department. This full‑time role offers a 4‑day work week with rotating weekend on‑call and requires a CVT/LVT/RVT/LVMT or AVMA‑accredited graduate with at least 1 year of experience.

Qualifications

• Must have 1 year of experience as a veterinary assistant/technician or be a recent/upcoming AVMA‑accredited technician program graduate.
• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or LVMT preferred.
• Strong technical skills in venipuncture, catheter placement, labs, anesthesia and pharmacology.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily appointment flow and assist with advanced diagnostics.
• Perform radiography, CT, ECG and support ultrasound/endoscopy procedures.
• Administer chemotherapy and other medications; assist with anesthesia induction and monitoring.
• Maintain hospitalized patient orders and monitor patient status and parameters.
• Communicate with clients and provide discharge instructions.

Join our team as a qualified Veterinary Technician to join our busy Internal Medicine department. This position offers a 4-day work week with occasional rotating weekend on‑call.

• The Internal Medicine Technician works closely with our team of internists and fellow technicians to provide a diverse range of advanced diagnostics and therapeutic treatments. Daily duties include but are not limited to:

• Facilitation of daily appointment flow
• Performing standard and advanced‑level diagnostics including radiography, CT, ECG, a wide variety of lab tests, and assisting with ultrasonic and endoscopic procedures
• Administering chemotherapeutic agents and other medications
• Performing all aspects of anesthesia including induction, monitoring and recovery
• Maintaining and updating hospitalized patient orders as necessary
• Monitoring patient parameters and status, notifying the appropriate person(s) of change
• Performing patient treatments while in hospital
• Maintaining a clean, organized working environment
• Taking a proactive role in life‑saving techniques including CPR, as necessary
• Client communication including history‑taking, discharge instructions, pharmacy communication, phone call triage and follow‑up communications as necessary

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a keen attention to detailand s/he will be able to work well as part of a team and have a proactive approach to helping maintain a shared sense of responsibility among the Internal Medicine service. S/he will also possess the following qualifications:

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position
• Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or a Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician (LVMT)
• At least 1 year of experience as an assistant/technician. Recent graduates of an AVMA‑accredited veterinary technology program are also welcome.
• Strong technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, general laboratory, anesthesia and pharmacology skills
• Knowledge of normal patient (cat/dog) parameters
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology
• Working knowledge of the indications, adverse effects and dosing considerations for commonly used veterinary medications
• Ability to work both independently with little supervision as well as part of a team
• Strong work ethic and good organizational and multi‑tasking skills
• Ability to lift 50 pounds

Schedule

• Full‑Time, Monday‑Thursday or Tuesday‑Friday from 7am to 5:30pm
• On call some nights and weekends

Pay Range $25—$30 USD
