Job summary

Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community is seeking an HR Communications Specialist to develop and execute internal communications for Tribal Operations. You will lead content across the HR department and collaborate with Marketing and Talent Management to spotlight programs, benefits, and processes via emails, the beacon app, and the intranet.

You will craft messages that inform, engage, and educate team members, ensuring timely and clear communications while aligning with SMSC values and strategic

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent in Communications, Journalism, PR or Marketing.
• 4–6 years in HR/internal or corporate communications.
• Excellent writing, adaptable to audience and stakeholder needs.
• Experience with social platforms or digital comms apps; open to new tech.
• Strong verbal skills to partner with HR leaders and team members.
• Strong project management with ability to manage multiple projects.
• Flexible and committed to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Partner with HR, Marketing/Communications, and Tribal Operations to develop internal comms plans highlighting HR updates and values.
• Write, design, and edit HR content for emails, newsletters, FAQs, toolkits, talking points, and intranet posts.
• Manage HR content across channels (app, signage, HR Hub, intranet) to optimize reach.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to design announcements and distribute executive messages.
• Analyze metrics (open rates, click-throughs, feedback) and recommend improvements.
• Champion SMSC core values in internal communications.
