Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Communications or related field with 5 years of office experience, marketing or internal comms a plus.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Experience with Power Automate is a plus; proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain internal communications materials supporting credit union objectives.
  • Manage internal content calendar in alignment with goals and requirements.
  • Oversee SharePoint-based intranet (PartnerNet): review, publish, manage lifecycle, and optimize pages.
  • Coordinate MS 365 usage: identify and implement ways to reduce manual work using Power Automate, Forms, and SharePoint lists.
  • Support Marketing with additional tasks and projects; mitigate risk by following policies and controls.

Join WPCU as our intranet expert and help transform internal communication platforms into a dynamic digital workplace that keeps employees informed, connected, and engaged. We're seeking a SharePoint-savvy communications professional who can elevate content, optimize user experiences, and champion best practices across our organization. The Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining internal communication materials that support the credit union’s objectives, enhance employee engagement and reinforce Wright-Patt Credit Union’s (WPCU) purpose, mission, and value; this includes but is not limited to short form written communications, optimization of the department’s use of Microsoft 365 (inclusive of SharePoint, Teams, Power Automate, Forms, and other software/applications), and light graphic editing.
  • Managing the internal communications process (60%) – With support from and in collaboration with the Director of Corporate Communications, the Internal Communications Specialist will be responsible for WPCU’s internal communications process. This includes:
  • Content Creation –Responsible for writing or otherwise creating grammatically-correct, engaging content to support internal campaigns, internal communication needs, and partner engagement with the WPCU brand. This includes the creation of graphic components when the use of visuals will better convey a message than the exclusive use of text.
  • Content Planning – Responsible for populating and managing an internal content calendar in alignment with departmental and organizational goals and requirements
  • Intranet Management – Responsible for the front-end management of WPCU’s SharePoint-based intranet, “PartnerNet,” including but not limited to:
  • Reviewing and editing content
  • Posting/publishing timely, reader-friendly, error-free content
  • Managing the lifecycle of existing content
  • Overseeing departmental pages – This includes but is not limited to:
    • Training individual department designees to manage their own pages/content where applicable
    • Quality control, ensuring content published by individual department designees adheres to brand and quality standards
    • Optimizing page structure, navigation, and out-of-the-box features to enhance user experience and content effectiveness, in partnership with IT for backend administration.
    • Incident Communications – Responsible for managing the use of WPCU’s internal outage and alert system, including but not limited to real-time monitoring of ongoing incidents and the management, creation, review, editing, targeting, and sending of content.
    • Internal Digital Signage – Responsible for managing content to be published on WPCU’s internal digital screens. This includes but is not limited to managing a content calendar, creating the graphics, and ensuring the content is kept fresh and current.
  • Microsoft 365 (MS 365) Use Optimization (20%) – This position is the department’s MS 365 champion, supporting the department’s goal of utilizing technology to work smarter, not harder. Responsibilities include:
    • Identifying, building, and implementing ways to utilize MS 365 software and applications like Power Automate, Forms, SharePoint lists, etc. to minimize the manual component of communications processes
    • Staying current on new MS 365 features as they apply to communications and productivity
    • Sharing MS 365 best practices with the Corporate Communications team, the Marketing department, and the organization
  • Other Departmental Support as Assigned (15%) – This position will be expected to support the Marketing department with additional tasks, projects, and initiatives as organizational and departmental needs dictate.
  • Risk Mitigation (5%) – The Internal Communications Specialist is expected to ensure proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed. Gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls should be reported to leadership to ensure member impact and risk is mitigated.
Required Skills
  • BA or BS degree in Communications, English, Business, or a related field with 5 years of experience in an office environment. Experience with marketing or internal communications is a plus.
  • Strong, demonstrated written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to figure out new technologies as they emerge.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
  • Previous experience with Power Automate is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva is a plus.
