Job summary

The Internal Communications Manager at University of Utah’s Huntsman Cancer Institute leads the development and implementation of institute-wide strategies to inform, engage, and align staff across clinical, research, and administrative roles.

This role partners with senior leadership, HR, and operations to plan enterprise communications, measure reach and engagement, and support culture initiatives while ensuring messaging reaches diverse employee groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) + 6 years or master’s degree + 4 years of related work experience.
• Experience in health care or academic medical centers preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
• Familiarity with multiple communication platforms and tools (SharePoint, newsletters, digital signage).

Responsibilities

• Oversee internal communication channels (intranet, newsletters, signage) to improve reach and engagement.
• Counsel leaders on planning, timing, and delivery of communications.
• Coordinate with HR, operations, and senior leadership for enterprise communication needs.
• Define and track metrics such as reach, engagement, and comprehension.
• Support enterprise initiatives, including events and culture needs.
