nLeague seeks an Internal Affairs Specialist to support the Indiana Department of Child Services Internal Affairs in Indianapolis. This on-site role at 302 W Washington St, Mon–Fri, 8:00 am–4:30 pm (7.5-hour day) and a 6+ month assignment requires fingerprint and CPS background checks.

Responsibilities include data log requests, interview scheduling, case file management, document compilation, proofreading investigation reports, and maintaining the Internal Affairs portal and electronic files.

Qualifications

  • Professional experience in law enforcement or investigative work.
  • Confidentiality and ethics are essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Experience with case management systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • High School Diploma.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and administrative tasks including data log requests, interview scheduling, case file management, document compilation, and report proofreading.
  • Analyze data logs and convert into clear narrative summaries.
  • Schedule investigation-related interviews and assist with note-taking.
  • Maintain the Internal Affairs Referral portal and electronic investigation file system.
  • Assist other Ethics and Compliance Division as needed.
  • Ensure accuracy and confidentiality in all investigative documents.

Location: 302 W Washington Street Rm E306, Indianapolis, IN 46204

  • This will work on-site Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm, with a 7.5 hour work day.
  • This position requires a passed fingerprint and CPS background check.
  • Resource must currently reside or relocate to Indiana.
  • Provides operational and administrative tasks such as data log requests, interview scheduling, case file management, document compilation, and report proofreading.
  • The Internal Affairs Specialist will assist the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) Internal Affairs
  • Director and Investigator with enforcing the agency's program for detecting and deterring employee
  • misconduct, policy violations, fraud, waste, and abuse of state resources and assets, and other
  • improprieties within the agency. The responsibilities of this position will include, but may not be
  • limited to:
  • Preparing and submitting Outlook data log requests through the Indiana Office of
  • Technology's Archer portal
  • Preparing and submitting case management system data log requests
  • Analyzing and converting data log reports into clear, sequential narrative summaries
  • Scheduling investigation-related interviews
  • Assisting with note-taking during interviews
  • Assisting with maintaining the Internal Affairs Referral investigation portal and electronic
  • Compiling evidentiary materials for investigations
  • Proofreading and editing investigation report documents
  • Assisting other Ethics and Compliance Division department as needed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; solid organizational skills; exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills; clear understanding of the concepts of ethics, integrity, and confidentiality; ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, follow directions, and exercise sound judgment in decision making
  • Performance success is measured against the goal of maximizing Departmental efficiency and quality.
  • Work is reviewed for overall accomplishment of objectives and conformance with Internal Affairs
  • Department procedures. Problems will be discussed with the Internal Affairs Director, Internal Affairs
  • Investigator, and Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer.

Required Skills
  • Professional exp.(a) in law enforcement,(b)as a paralegal, (c)at least one (1) year in investigative work,or (d) knowledge of investigative procedures
  • Prior experience working in a role requiring confidentiality and strong ethics.
  • Prior working experience with Microsoft, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • High School Degree
  • Ability to work under supervision with exercising independent judgment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow structured procedures while managing multiple concurrent cases.
