Job summary

Dean Dorton is seeking an Accounting Specialist to support core internal accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, payroll processing, and expense management. The role offers a foundation in financial controls within a professional services environment and emphasizes accuracy and reliability.

You will assist with month-end close activities, asset tracking, AP/AR processing, and state filings, collaborating with payroll, finance, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required or preferred.
• 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience.
• Foundational understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and transaction processing.
• Complete month-end balance sheet reconciliations and research discrepancies.
• Process and review employee expense reports for accuracy, policy compliance, and timely reimbursement.
• Reconcile corporate credit card transactions and resolve discrepancies with documentation.
• Calculate and process commission payments in accordance with firm policies.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation tracking.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing.
• Support payroll-related activities, including new hire setup and quarterly reconciliations.
• Prepare internal financial reports to support accounting close and audits.
• Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with accounting standards and firm policies.
• Support process improvements and ad hoc financial analysis.
