Job summary

IPD Engineering is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team in Syracuse, NY. This role covers general ledger maintenance, fixed asset tracking, AP/AR management, month-end close activities, and financial reporting support.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment while handling client invoicing and vendor setup tasks with accuracy.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger principles.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries for prepaid insurance and other expenses.
• Record interest expense as applicable.
• Manage bank accounts and credit cards.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Monitor AR inbox and coordinate with the A/E Controller and project manager for timely support.
• Finalize and distribute monthly client invoices via email and mail.
• Prepare monthly client statements and pursue collection on invoices over 90 days past due.
• Assist with vendor setup, W-9 collection, and COI management.
• Ensure accurate job setup and project status maintenance in the accounting system, collaborating with the Controller.
• Assist in the QA/QC process for job setups.
• Provide backup support for client billing platforms.
• Assist with subconsultant commitment setup and purchase order processes.
