Job summary

LEO A DALY in Omaha is seeking a Summer Intern to assist in analyzing, designing, and detailing structural systems that enhance safety and sustainability of the built environment.

You will work with experienced engineers on real projects, develop practical design solutions, and gain hands-on REVIT modeling, site observations, and multidisciplinary coordination. Applicants should be pursuing an ABET-accredited degree in architectural or civil engineering with a structural emphasis.

Qualifications

• Pursuing ABET-accredited degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
• Knowledge of REVIT Structure is preferred.
• Familiarity with RISA 2D/3D, RAM, and PCA software is a plus.
• Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication; knowledge of building systems.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Active campus/community involvement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists to design and specify project-appropriate structural engineering requirements.

As a Summer Intern you will assist in analyzing, designing, and detailing structural systems solutions that enhance the functionality, safety, and sustainability of the built environment.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Assists to design and specify project-appropriate structural engineering requirements.
• Coordinates designs with the work of Structural Designers.
• Performs Revit modeling and detailing
• Assists to conduct site investigations and observations.
• Assists to prepare narratives, reports, hand and computer calculations, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints.
• Assists to perform cross-discipline discussions and coordination.
• Additional assignments may include attending client and internal meetings, assisting with performing construction contract administration, and assisting with marketing/business development activities.

Requirements

• Must be working towards graduation of ABET-accredited degree in Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis or Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• Knowledge and proficiency with computer software including REVIT Structure is preferred.
• Knowledge and proficiency using RISA 2d and 3d, and the RAM and PCA suite of programs is a plus.
• Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication skills and knowledge of other building systems.
• Positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant working as part of a multi-discipline team.
• Active involvement and demonstrated leadership skills in extracurricular activities on campus and in the community is preferred.
