LEO A DALY in Omaha, NE is seeking an Architectural Engineering Summer Intern. You will perform engineering design, modeling, drafting and detailing in support of structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.

You will rotate through disciplines, under licensed engineers, contributing to design calculations, reports and deliverable drawings. You will join a multi-disciplinary team on multiple projects, with emphasis on collaboration, quality, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • Must be working towards graduation of ABET-accredited degree in Architectural Engineering.
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering to identify future specialization.
  • Knowledge of REVIT preferred.
  • Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Active involvement and demonstrated leadership in campus/community activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in design and specify project-appropriate engineering requirements.
  • Coordinate designs with the design team.
  • Perform Revit modeling and detailing.
  • Assist with site investigations and observations.
  • Prepare narratives, reports, calculations, drawings and specifications.
  • Participate in cross-discipline discussions and coordination.
  • Attend client and internal meetings and assist with contract administration and marketing activities.

Description

As an Architectural Engineering Summer Intern you will perform engineering design, modeling, drafting and detailing tasks in support of structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering. You will spend a multi-week rotation in each engineering discipline throughout the summer.

Summer Interns work as part of a multi-discipline team performing engineering design during all phases of multiple simultaneous projects. You will perform assignments under the direct supervision of one or more licensed engineers and concentrate on specific design or technical documentation tasks that contribute to overall projects. Assignments will include performing design calculations, preparing reports, and producing deliverable drawing sets including plans, details, and schedules.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists to design and specify project-appropriate engineering requirements.
  • Coordinates designs with the work of the design team.
  • Performs Revit modeling and detailing
  • Assists to conduct site investigations and observations.
  • Assists to prepare narratives, reports, hand and computer calculations, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints.
  • Assists to perform cross-discipline discussions and coordination.
  • Additional assignments may include attending client and internal meetings, assisting with performing construction contract administration, and assisting with marketing/business development activities.

Requirements

  • Must be working towards graduation of ABET-accredited degree in Architectural Engineering.
  • This summer internship experience is intended for students seeking exposure to mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering in order to assist in identifying future specialization for their education and career.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with computer software including REVIT is preferred.
  • Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication skills and knowledge of other building systems.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant working as part of a multi-discipline team.
  • Active involvement and demonstrated leadership skills in extracurricular activities on campus and in the community is preferred.
