Job summary

Volvo Group’s Volvo Construction Equipment is offering an internship in Purchasing at the Shippensburg site. You will support QSCC objectives with supply partners and help execute commodity strategies while collaborating across a global cross-functional network to address purchasing challenges and improve supply chain performance.

The role emphasizes supplier delivery precision analysis, direct material costing support, and RFQ management.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Finance, or related field.
  • Completed at least 30 semester hours prior to start.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
  • Spring interns may work up to 30 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Support QSCC objectives with supply partners.
  • Assist with execution of commodity strategies for the Shippensburg site.
  • Collaborate across a global cross-functional network to address purchasing challenges and improve supply chain performance.
  • Perform supplier delivery precision analysis and assist with critical supplier issues.

What you will do

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for supporting Quality, Sustainability, Cost, and Capacity (QSCC) objectives with our supply partners. You will support execution of commodity strategies for the Shippensburg site and collaborate across a global, cross-functional network to address purchasing challenges and improve supply chain performance. You will also be involved in:

  • Supplier Delivery Precision analysis
  • Support with critical supplier issues
  • Direct Material costing support
  • Research supplier invoice discrepancies versus VCE established pricing, document and take appropriate actions with the supplier and Commodity managers as required.
  • Send out RFQ’s to approved suppliers
  • Place production and prototype orders with approved suppliers
  • Strategic Projects support

Who are you?
  • You are a collaborative and results-oriented student with a strong interest in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Finance, or a related field, and have completed at least 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the internship.
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $17.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
