Job summary

The Municipal Intern at WSB will support the design and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects in Saint Cloud, MN, gaining hands-on experience with engineers and project teams during Summer 2027. You will learn industry standards, assist with plans, calculations, and reports, and contribute to site visits and coordination.

This internship requires pursuing a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering and interest in public infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Interest in municipal engineering and public infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and preparation of plans for municipal infrastructure projects (roads, utilities, drainage).
• Support engineers with design calculations, cost estimates, and analyses.

What You Will Do:

The Municipal Intern will support the design and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects while gaining hands-on experience working alongside engineers and project teams. This role provides exposure to a variety of public infrastructure projects and the opportunity to develop technical and professional skills in a collaborative environment. Your responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with the design and preparation of plans for municipal infrastructure projects, including roads, utilities, drainage, and public improvements.
• Supporting engineers with design calculations, cost estimates, and technical analyses.
• Assisting in the preparation of reports, specifications, permit applications, and other project documentation.
• Reviewing engineering drawings, plans, and technical documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Participating in project meetings, site visits, and field observations.
• Collaborating with engineers, designers, and other disciplines to deliver high-quality solutions for municipal clients.
• Supporting project coordination, data collection, and research activities.
• Learning industry standards, engineering practices, and municipal design processes while contributing to active projects.

What You Will Bring:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering program from an accredited university.
• Interest in municipal engineering, transportation, utilities, land development, or public infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or other engineering design software is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents is preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
