Job summary

Trustmark National Bank invites applicants for a Summer Mortgage Internship in the Jackson, MS area. The program provides on‑the‑job training in Community Lending, supporting the Mortgage Department through special projects and administrative tasks.

Interns will participate in community service, networking, and training events and will present a department overview at program end. Commitment is June 7, 2027 to July 30, 2027, with hours 8am–5pm.

Qualifications

• Student internship program in Mortgage Banking.
• Must commit to June 7, 2027 – July 30, 2027.
• Legal working status required for internship program.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned special projects within departments, working closely with department managers.
• Perform administrative functions to support the department such as answering phones, ordering supplies, distribution of mail, filing, etc.
• Assist Community Lending Specialists with requesting and reviewing documentation needed to meet DU and loan program requirements.
• Follow up with applicants and provide guidance/assistance as needed with obtaining proper documentation to ensure timely processing of loan requests.
• Coordinate marketing and outreach strategies as well as homebuyer and financial literacy workshops for defined market.
• Attend designated training classes; participate in community service.
• Attend informative events designed to provide interns with general understanding of bank functions.
• Present an overview of department and projects worked on during internship; provide evaluation of departments and the program.
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Overview

The purpose of this internship is to equip the intern with on-the-job training and work experience within the Community Lending department, preparing the intern for a career in the financial services industry. The intern will provide needed support to the Mortgage Department throughout the duration of the internship by coordinating and completing special projects, while also participating in community service, networking, and training events.

• Junior or Senior college level/MBA
• Major: Accounting, Finance or Business related
• Minimum GPA of 3.00
• Basic computer skills
• Proficient use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to handle confidential and critical information
• Able to work in a team and take direction from others
• Able to give presentations on work experience topics
• Ability to display customer service skills
• Ability to perform basic math and/or accounting function
