Job summary

Volvo Group invites students pursuing an Occupational Safety Environmental Health or related field to join our internship program in the United States. You will gain hands-on experience under direct supervision, supporting safety programs and ISO/OHSAS compliance while developing problem-solving skills.

We offer housing assistance where applicable and exposure to a global transport leader, Mack Trucks, and Volvo Group teams.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited program and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
• Spring interns may work up to 30 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, performs basic and routine duties in health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with HSE standards and regulatory requirements.
• Assists in developing and maintaining safety and health programs within ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 management systems.
• Assists in monitoring hazards present in the work area.
• Works with others to investigate accidents, injuries, and hazards.
• Collaborates with Ergonomics Team to address ergonomic concerns.
• Participates in process improvements and training programs.

Job description

Core Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, performs basic and routine duties in a wide range of health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with the HSE standards along with federal, state and local regulatory requirements
• Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems and procedures within the ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 Management Systems
• Assists in monitoring hazards that may be present in the work area
• Works with others to investigate accidents, injuries and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace
• Works with Ergonomics Team to develop and implement solutions to workplace ergonomic concerns
• Participates in recommending improvement in processes, design, procedures and equipment to minimize hazards
• Participates in employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs

Minimum Education And Experience

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $17.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
