Job summary

The Midland RockHounds, part of Diamond Baseball Holdings, invite you to join the grounds crew internship for a hands-on experience in professional baseball field operations at Momentum Bank Ballpark in Midland, TX. From February 1 to September 30, 2027, you will learn how to maintain the playing surface and prepare the field for games and events.

$18 per hour with roughly 40 hours per week during game weeks and 25–30 hours per week during non-game weeks; a team-offered apartment at reduced cost

Qualifications

• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and willing to learn in a sports turf setting.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude are essential.
• Enrollment in a turf program or completion of a two- or four-year degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain mound, home plate area, infield skin, and warning track.
• Operate mowing, aeration, topdressing, fertilization equipment.
• Assist with irrigation maintenance, tarp pulls, and special projects.
• Set up and break down batting practice and events.
• Complete the Grounds Crew training programs and develop budgeting/scheduling skills.

Position Overview

Join the Midland RockHounds grounds crew for a hands-on internship in professional baseball field operations. From February 1-September 30, 2027, you will help maintain the playing surface, prepare the field for games and events, and develop practical sports turf management skills.

What You Will Do

• Maintain the mound, home plate area, infield skin, and warning track.
• Operate equipment for mowing, aeration, topdressing, fertilization, and other turfgrass practices.
• Assist with irrigation maintenance, tarp pulls, and special projects.
• Set up and break down batting practice and other stadium events.
• Complete the RockHounds Grounds Crew Beginner and Advanced Training Programs.
• Build experience with planning, budgeting, scheduling, and time management.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and interested in a career in sports turf management.
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn each day.
• Enrollment in a turf program or completion of a two-or four-year degree preferred.
• Previous ballfield experience preferred, but not required.

Compensation And Schedule

• $18 per hour; approximately 40 hours per week during game weeks, plus a $50 game rate.
• $18 per hour; approximately 25-30 hours per week during non-game weeks.
• Team-offered apartment available at a reduced cost; meals provided on game days.
• Internship dates: February 1-September 30, 2027.
