Job summary

Shine BrightX LLC is seeking a Civil Engineering intern to support real client projects by performing structural analysis and 3D finite element modeling, design and drafting for transportation structures such as bridges, culverts and retaining walls.

You will assist in quantity calculations, cost estimates, and in developing construction documents and shop drawings, coordinating with other disciplines and using MicroStation/OpenRoads, AutoCAD and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program with a focus on Structures.
• Demonstrated interest in bridge and structural design through internships or coursework.
• Basic understanding of bridge design principles.
• Familiarity with CAD tools such as MicroStation/OpenRoads and AutoCAD.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Support real client projects by performing structural analysis, including finite element 3D modeling, design, and drafting for transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and sign structures.
• Assist in quantity calculations and contribute to cost estimates.
• Help develop construction contract documents and review shop and working drawings.
• Coordinate work activities with other disciplines as directed.
• Assist in reviewing inspection reports and performing bridge load ratings under supervision.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures.
• Demonstrated interest in bridge and structural design and analysis through prior internships or applied academic coursework.
• Basic understanding of bridge design principles.
• Familiarity with CADD software such as MicroStation/OpenRoads and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a design team.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly salary range of $21.00 - $28.00, dependent on experience and geographic location.
