Job summary

NFI is seeking a Director of Intermodal Operations in Texas. This executive role leads day-to-day intermodal operations, aligning with three NFI entities to grow a world-class organization.

Responsibilities include strategic development, resource planning, and maintaining a service-driven culture that delivers exceptional customer outcomes. Requirements include a college degree (Master's preferred), 10+ years in intermodal/transportation, and strong leadership with P&L experience.

Qualifications

• College degree required; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years in transportation management or intermodal operations.
• Experience directing the department with P&L responsibility preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Independent, customer-focused leadership with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day Intermodal operations.
• Lead the development and execution of intermodal strategy across NFI entities (NFI, NDC, NFIL).
• Drive new strategies, services, and tactical plans with resources to meet customer needs and contracts.
• Maintain entrepreneurial mindset and align with business groups for growth.
• Collaborate with Intermodal Sales and Business Development to strengthen relationships.
• Provide leadership to all functions and foster a service/customer-oriented culture.
• Review procedures; implement improvements and ensure adherence throughout the organization.
• Monitor client programs and address any current or future issues to ensure SLAs and KPIs are met.
• Grow relationships with railroads, drayage providers, and other partners.
• Manage staffing, budgets, forecasts, and monthly performance against budgets.
• Mentor team members and stay current on industry trends to keep NFI Intermodal competitive.
