Job summary

BNSF Railway, based in Chicago, seeks Intermodal Equipment Operators for a full-time, 40-hour work week in a safety-sensitive environment. Training is provided on-the-job and in classrooms. Travel is minimal; relocation not offered; an 8-month probationary period applies.

Position includes operating cranes, forklifts, hostler trucks, and other equipment in intermodal facilities. Union membership is with TCU; benefits and comprehensive programs are provided.

Qualifications

• Legal authorization to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather.
• Full-time availability (40 hrs/week) including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Lift/carry up to 50 lbs and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment: cranes, side-loaders, forklifts, hostler trucks.
• Ground Support Workers assist Crane/Lift Operators with loading/unloading on railcars and chassis.
• Hostler Truck Operators handle railcar spotting and chassis management.
• Crane/Lift Equipment Operators lift trailers and containers on/off railcars.
• Daily work is in a safety-sensitive environment with varied weather and noise.
