Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a compassionate nursing assistant/certified nursing assistant to support daily patient care activities, including bathing and ADLs, and to assist with data collection such as vital signs and weight. The role may involve phlebotomy and non-sterile treatments as assigned, under supervision.

The position emphasizes patient- and family-centered care, respectful interactions, and ongoing participation in mandatory trainings to support quality care delivery.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; CNA or complete certification prior to completion of orientation or has completed one clinical nursing school rotation and currently enrolled in a nursing program.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts daily patient care activities including activities of daily living and comfort measures.
  • Obtains weights, temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure measurements, including orthostatic parameters as appropriate.
  • Applies cold compresses.
  • Performs phlebotomy (depending upon area of assignment).
  • Performs specimen collection/procedures.
  • Uses effective interpersonal skills in all interactions.
  • Demonstrates respect for the other person in all interactions.
  • Attends all mandatory inservices.
  • Is flexible with time as assignment changes to meet unit needs.

Education
