The Interior Demolition Laborer plays a critical role in executing controlled, selective demolition within existing structures, supporting the safe and efficient removal of interior building components in preparation for renovation or redevelopment. Working closely with operators and field leadership, this role focuses on precision demolition activities such as removing walls, ceilings, flooring, fixtures, and mechanical systems while protecting surrounding structures and maintaining site integrity.

This position requires strong attention to detail, situational awareness, and a commitment to safety while working in confined, occupied, or structurally sensitive environments. The Interior Demolition Laborer contributes directly to clean, organized, and efficient interior workspaces, ensuring demolition activities are performed safely, methodically, and in alignment with project specifications and environmental controls.

TOTAL COMPENSATION

$21.11 to $34.90 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare interior work areas for demolition, including setting up protection, barriers, and containment systems (e.g., plastic, negative air, dust control measures).
  • Perform selective demolition of interior components such as drywall, ceilings, flooring, framing, fixtures, and both structural and non‑structural elements.
  • Assist with safe removal and handling of materials, including sorting, staging, and disposing of debris in accordance with project and environmental requirements.
  • Operate and maintain hand and power tools such as saws, drills, jackhammers, chipping tools, and other demolition equipment.
  • Support dust mitigation efforts, including wet methods, HEPA vacuums, and maintaining clean and controlled work environments.
  • Protect existing structures, adjacent finishes, and building systems during demolition activities.
  • Assist operators with interior equipment use and material movement in tight or confined spaces.
  • Load, unload, and transport materials and debris within the building and to designated disposal areas.
  • Follow detailed instructions, plans, and sequencing to ensure demolition is performed accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe, clean, and working condition.
  • Maintain records and documentation as required.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with team members, supervisors, clients, and other trades, especially in occupied or active environments.
  • Check primary email on a regular basis for company communication.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Dependability and reliability with a strong attendance record and the flexibility to meet project scheduling needs, including work in occupied or time‑sensitive environments.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, following detailed direction and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Strong safety mindset with the ability to work in confined spaces, around existing structures, and in environments requiring dust control, PPE, and heightened awareness.
  • Experience or familiarity with interior demolition, construction, or renovation work preferred but not required.
  • Ability to safely perform physical labor including lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, and operating hand and power tools.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work respectfully and effectively with supervisors, team members, subcontractors, and building occupants.
  • Consistent access to a reliable personal email account.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to pass criminal and personal background checks to work in sensitive environments such as schools and airports preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and work in confined or enclosed spaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing 25 to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks using hand and power tools.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Primarily indoor work within existing structures, including confined spaces, partially occupied buildings, and areas with limited ventilation.
