Chatham University seeks an IAResource Room Manager to organize and maintain the interior architecture program's materials, drawings, and publications. The role involves guiding users, shelving, assisting students, managing donations, updating vendor lists, and preserving reference sets.

Responsibilities

  • Be knowledgeable of the layout and organization of the room; act as a "tour guide" for anyone using the space.
  • Reshelf all materials, products and samples that have been left out, or placed in the cart for reshelving.
  • Assist students to help them find specific materials.
  • Accept, categorize samples and materials that are donated to the Resource Room, and write thank you notes to the donor.
  • Update and maintain a product vendor list, and keep a current list posted.
  • Keep paint sets organized; protect master sets from each vendor as "reference only".
  • Throw out damaged binders that are missing most of their contents, all samples or materials that do not have manufacturer labels or specification data included.
  • Meet with faculty advisor once a month to review processes and suggestions for improvement.

  • Help maintain the large format plotters; paper jams, changing ink cartridges, basic maintenance tasks.

  • Meet with faculty advisor once a month to review processes and suggestions for improvement.

The IAResource Room Manager is essentially a librarian to maintain, organize and manage the physical materials used by the interior architecture program for the selection of interior and exterior building materials, furniture, finishes, and equipment, and for specification documents, trade journals and publications relevant to the profession.

All current student employees should notify their other manager(s) if you work multiple jobs on campus at the same time. Additionally, students may not work more than 20 hours per week (combined between all campus jobs) during the academic year. Students may not exceed 980 work hours per calendar year. Student jobs do not automatically roll over to the next academic year or summer.
