Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and reconciliations.
• Experience supporting government contracts or regulated contracting environments.
• Proven ability to improve accounting processes and internal controls in a growing organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and review financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Manage government contracts accounting, invoicing, compliance, and contract administration.
• Support development and reconciliation of indirect cost structures and related accounting analyses.
• Maintain accounting records and documentation for regulatory compliance.

• Manage contract and milestone-based invoicing for accurate, timely billing.

Senior Accounting Manager

Our client, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting operations and help build scalable financial infrastructure in a rapidly growing environment.

This role is hybrid in Austin, Texas. Remote candidates will be considered; however, candidates should be available during Central Time business hours. This role has an initial duration of approximately 3 months, with potential for extension and possible conversion to a full-time position.

Responsibilities:

• Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare and review financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Manage accounting activities related to government contracts, invoicing, compliance requirements, and contract administration
• Support the development, monitoring, and reconciliation of indirect cost structures and related accounting analyses
• Maintain accounting records and supporting documentation to satisfy regulatory and compliance requirements
• Oversee operational accounting activities across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll reconciliations, and billing processes
• Manage contract and milestone-based invoicing to ensure accuracy and timely billing
• Develop and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, controls, and operational efficiency
• Partner with business stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and provide financial insights that support decision-making

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Experience supporting government contracts, contract accounting, government invoicing, or other regulated contracting environments
• Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and operational workflows within a growing organization
