Interim Senior Accountant (Nonprofit)

This role isBased in Winona, MN — Hybrid Schedule (2–3 days onsite weekly)

If you’re based in the Twin Cities and open to a hybrid opportunity outside the metro, this could be a great fit – especially if you already have a cabin, or family ties in SE Minnesota. Winona is a beautiful river town just 2 hours from Minneapolis with a scenic commute!

This contract role can be either part-time or full-time, depending on your availability and interest.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle full-cycle month-end close procedures
• Prepare and post journal entries and ensure accuracy of financial transactions
• Perform account reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, and other key accounts)
• Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
• Support grant tracking, fund accounting, and other nonprofit-specific functions
• Collaborate with finance team and leadership to ensure compliance with internal controls and reporting standards
• Assist in audit prep and respond to inquiries as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelors in accounting or finance required
• Minimum 2 years of nonprofit accounting experience is required
• Must have strong understanding of debits and credits
• Detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively

Pay Rate: $30–$35/hr. (based on experience)
